Situated 26 miles southeast of the centre of Moscow, Domodedovo Airport is currently the largest airport in Russia and Eastern Europe in terms of passenger and cargo traffic and includes a railway station connecting it to Moscow city centre.

This commission was to design the new Terminal 2 and 3 buildings at Domodedovo Airport. Designed by RMJM’s European studio in Edinburgh supported by a strong team of specialist consultants. The new T2 & T3 will be 730,000 square metres.

This will increase the airports current capacity by 35 million passengers per year, more than doubling the existi ng capacity.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2018, with the projected cost of the project construction in the order of £600 million.

Igor Borisov, Director of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, said:

“Domodedovo Airport is not only one of the largest, but one of the most modern airports in Russia. The choice of this design team is dictated by a desire to emphasise Domodedovo Airport’s dynamics and aspirations for the future through architectural solutions.”
