Calum McCafferty

Architect

Calum McCafferty is an Architect with 8 years experience in the construction industry.

He was awarded the distinguished Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporary Architect Award for his work in architecture.

Calum has extensive design and technical experience from a number of sectors including hospitality, residential, industrial and cultural schemes.

He has headed a range of unique award winning architecture projects such as one off homes throughout the UK and major developments over the globe.

Initially trained in Switzerland, his journey through a range of roles means he has led design teams developing concepts for hotels, office buildings, high quality homes and cultural hubs.

In previous rolls including as Assistant Design Director in a large practice, he has designed one of the most prominent buildings on the new prestigious Buchanan Wharf development site on the banks of the Clyde in Glasgow.

With his contemporary vision, knowledge and experience in sustainable construction and implementing new technologies, he has also envisioned plans for gold standard homes for the future and a sustainable energy visitor center in Aberdeen.

As a Project Architect for Fourward, he has been developing innovative methods of construction, exploring passive techniques and modular homes becoming a valuable creative asset to the team.

His approach to architectural design is in the making of quality spaces and places. His research and interests have been to explore how space, materials, scent, touch, light and its shadows, can have on the user. He believes good architecture organically evolves from this approach to making.
